Hi! I’m Paulina and I am an assistant English teacher in CEIP Ponce de Leon. I come from the Philippines and I graduated from the University of the Philippines-Diliman with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics. I am mainly tasked to work with the professors in the bilingual classes such as English and Science. As a rule, learning the grammar itself is important in acquiring a foreign language. However, what is more vitalis to actually speak the language as opposed to just knowing the grammar. I am therefore pleased to help the students inimproving in the conversational aspect of English, that is, in speaking and listening. This is my first time to work in Spain and I am very pleased to have been assigned here in Ponce, as the school and the students have been thoroughly welcoming. I am happy to share aspects of my culture and to learn from them about the Spanish culture as well. As a bilingual myself, I acknowledge how advantageous it is to possess the English speaking skills and I hope to help the students in acquiring the same opportunities that the English language has given me. |

Hola! Me llamo Gabrielle y soy auxiliar de conversación. Aunque esta es mi primera vez en León, no es mi primera vez en España. He visitado el país varias veces y también viví en Granada durante un semestre estudiando en su universidad. Recientemente me gradué en la Universidad de Rice en Houston con una licenciatura en literatura Inglesa e Historia. Entre los objetivos de colaboración entre los profesores y yo en el CEIP están:
Específicamente en el colegio Ponce de León mi objetivo es apoyar las clases de Science y English a todos los cursos de primaria y prestar mi colaboración a todas las actividades que se realizan en el centro. Estoy agusto en este colegio y espero que mi estancia sea muy satisfactoria para los alumnos, padres y profesores. |
Hello! My name is Gabrielle and I am an assistant English teacher here at Ponce de León. Although this is my first time here in Leon, it is not my first time in Spain. I have visited various times and I also spent a semester in Granada studying at the university there. Recently, I graduated from Rice University in Houston with a bachelor’s degree in English and History. I am very pleased to be here at Ponce de León and I look forward to sharing unique aspects of American culture with my students as a way of enhancing their learning experience. |

Hi! My name is Tad and I’m a student of Spanish from the state of Washington in the United States. I’m attending Spanish classes at the University of Washington´s León Center and at the University of León´s Language Center. I arrived in León on April 10th and will return to Washington on June 15th. I´m volunteering here at Ponce de León in order to give the students the chance to use English in a conversational environment and experience it as a vital, practical way to communicate rather than just as an abstract subject. ¡Hola! Me llama Tadeo y soy estudiante del estado de Washington en Estados Unidos. Asisto a clases de español en el Centro de León de la Universidad de Washington y el Centro de Idiomas.

Llegué a León el 10 de abril y volveré a Washington el 15 de junio. Soy voluntario aquí en Ponce de León con el fin de dar a los estudiantes la oportunidad de utilizar el Inglés en un ambiente coloquial y experimentarlo como una forma vital y práctica de comunicarse no sólo como una materia abstracta. |

| Hello! My name is Katie and I’m a visiting teacher from the United States of America. I have been teaching English and Spanish for five years, in the USA and in Spain, to students of all ages from Primary through Secondary. This is my third year living and teaching in Spain and my first year in León. In Ponce, I am collaborating with the English teachers in the bilingual classes, primarily in Science and Art. I always utilize the English language as much as possible.
Since I have been a student of Spanish, I recognize the importance of introducing students do various aspects of different cultures alongside the language. I believe that English is not only a subject, but also a tool for everyday life. |
